EDMONTON — As mini-camps get set to open and full training camps near, rumours continue to swirl regarding the open general manager position in Edmonton, a few weeks removed from the Eskimos’ decision to part ways with Ed Hervey.
The latest chatter comes from a host of beat reporters who say that former head coach Tom Higgins could garner interest in the job.
Nothing concrete from the Eskimos or Higgins himself but he could arise as a candidate considering a report from Herb Zurkowsky that indicates he will be leaving his post as Defensive Coordinator at the University of Calgary Dinos.

Higgins most recently coached in Montreal for a season-and-a-half before he was let go in August of 2015 after going 12-14 during his tenure as head coach.
Higgins began his CFL coaching career in 1985 as an assistant with the Calgary Stampeders. Prior to joining the Stampeders, he served three years on the coaching staff at the University of Calgary, working for Canadian Football Hall of Fame coach Peter Connellan and helping the Dinos win the 1983 Vanier Cup.
He won the Grey Cup as a head coach with the Eskimos in 2003, earning the CFL’s Coach of the Year Award that same season as well as in 2005 as head coach of the Stampeders.
