TORONTO — Whether you’re a CFL team, a Total CFL Pick ‘Em player or a CFL.ca writer, there’s a lot on the line, even if it is just Week 1.
The Bombers kick it all off against the Eskimos, and with a series of games to follow all with their own unique storylines, there’s only one game that sees any of the CFL.ca writers bump heads in the Week 1 edition of CFL Pick ‘Em.
Total CFL Pick ‘Em is back in 2018 with $5,000 to be awarded to the winner who’s able to Pick ‘Em better than all the rest.

EDM at WPG
The storyline is simple. Winnipeg hosts the league’s kickoff clash with a rookie quarterback in Chris Streveler at the helm of their high octane offence. Andrew Harris will most likely have the bulk of the offence run through him to ease Streveler into the pace of the league
Meanwhile, Mike Reilly looks to jump on the train that led him to CFL’s Most Outstanding Player honours just a season ago. Edmonton will be without all-star safety Aaron Grymes, which may present a weak point for the Bombers to attack, especially to induce some confidence in their rookie ball-slinger.

The reigning Grey Cup-winning Toronto Argos take their first step towards a repeat at Mosaic Stadium on Friday night. A stacked squad that will have the likes of James Wilder Jr. anchoring their backfield, who didn’t start until Week 12 last season.
As for Saskatchewan, Zach Collaros is expected to start for the Riders, his third team since entering the league. Chris Jones will likely have his backfield split duties between former Stamp Jerome Messam and Tre Mason, who comes by way of the NFL.

HAM at CGY
It’s Jeremiah Masoli‘s offence until said otherwise, and Calgary’s defence presents the first test as to whether the six-year vet is the man to lead the Ticats through 2018. While Terrence Toliver’s return will have to wait, the Ticats have plenty of exciting options in their receiving corps, including last year’s breakout star Brandon Banks
Saturday will be Bo Levi Mitchell‘s first actual game since losing in the Grey Cup for the second year in a row. Calgary remains as heavy favourites in the West, and a win against the Ticats would get the right foot forward as they start the season with three games against East Division teams.

MTL at BC
Perhaps the most intriguing matchup on tab for Week 1 of the season as both teams enter as ‘new and improved’. The Alouettes hope to have their quarterback in Drew Willy build some chemistry early on with receivers Ernest Jackson and former Lion Chris Williams.
Chapter one of the final book of Wally Buono’s historic career will take place when the Lions take on the Als, and the BC coach is hoping by then that his players have bought into what he’s been preaching throughout training camp.
