TORONTO — BC Lions defensive end Odell Willis has been handed a maximum fine following his high hit on Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Zach Collaros, the CFL announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred late in the first quarter of Saturday’s Week 20 matchup between the Riders and Lions. Commissioner Randy Ambrosie followed up on the matter in a note to fans on Monday.

Willis was one of three players fined following Week 20, with Ticats linebacker Curtis Newton and Stamps receiver Markeith Ambles also being docked.

Newton was fined for a tourist hit on Ottawa REDBLACKS kicker Richie Leone, while Ambles was fined for an illegal blindside block on Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox.

As per league policy, the amount of the player fines was not disclosed.
