MISSISSAUGA (CFL.ca wire) -– The Toronto Argonauts announced on Thursday that the club has signed defensive tackle Derham Cato and safety/linebacker Jason Shivers.
A product of Dartmouth College, Cato played four years for the Big Green, generating 98 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and three quarterback sacks before going on to spend time with the Nashville Kats (AFL), Manchester Wolves (AF2) and Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe.
Shivers is a hard-hitting and versatile defender who can play safety, linebacker and defensive halfback. Shivers was a standout in his two years at Arizona State University earning numerous honours including team MVP on both defence and special teams, First-Team All-PAC 10 Conference and Third-Team All-American. He later went on to play with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants of the NFL and in 2006 he was a standout with the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe.
