Lions add more speed to offence

VANCOUVER (CFL.ca wire) — The B.C. Lions announced on Thursday that import receivers LaDaris Vann and Keith Flanagan have signed with the team.

Vann returns to the CFL after a brief stint with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2003 where he appeared in 10 games recording 21 catches for 324 yards and two touchdowns. He was released by the Blue Bombers in October the same year. Vann spent the 2004 season with the Indiana Firebirds of the AFL and then signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2005. He was allocated to Berlin/Frankfurt of NFL Europe before being released by the Bills in April 2006.

As a collegian, Vann appeared in 46 games over four seasons (1999-2002) at the University of Cincinnati and re-wrote the school’s record books, leaving as the Bearcats’ all-time leader in receptions with 204, and receiving yards with 2,583. He also added 10 touchdowns and holds the record for consecutive games with a reception with 46. Vann was named to the First Team All-Conference USA squad twice and was the Freshman of the Year in 1999.

Flanagan started 10 of 12 games for the Midwestern State Mustangs in 2006 and was the school’s third leading receiver hauling in 23 receptions for 272 yards (11.8 average) and four touchdowns. Flanagan also returned five kickoffs for 86 yards (17.2 average).
