Your guide to CFL all-star voting

March 7, 1876.  Alexander Graham Bell patents the telephone.

October 22, 1879.  Thomas Edison invents the light bulb.

July 7, 1928.  Otto Rohwedder invents sliced bread.

August 29th to November 1st 2008.  The CFL allows its fans to cast their votes for CFL All-Stars on CFL.ca.

Indeed fans the “greatest thing since sliced bread” is finally upon us and the fate of your favourite CFL players is in your hands.

…And their hands too!  Voting is open to anyone and everyone, and you can vote every day from now until Halloween.  And don’t think you’ll be the only person doing so.  There are over 300 active players in the CFL, all fighting for 27 coveted All-Star spots, so don’t be surprised to see the gloves come off.

As we speak, players around the league are petitioning friends, families, and people on the street to vote for them, so we need to even the playing field.  I call for fans across the country to visit CFL.ca and vote for their picks for CFL All-Star.  Petition your friends and families to do the same!

It has been 132 years since someone with the name Graham Bell was in the news.  Perhaps this is the year Graeme Bell of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers becomes a CFL All-Star.  Maybe Tigertown and Rider Nation would like to see their respective teams sweep the CFL.ca All-Stars.  Maybe you want to take the opportunity to vote for the little guy, whoever that may be.

The point is, Canada, you have the power.

Personally, after the success of the online voting this year, I’d like to see a few new awards added to the ballot.

Why don’t we have an award celebrating “The Biggest Man in the CFL”?  An award guys like Patrick Kabongo of the Eskimos and JP Bekasiak of the Ticats can battle it out for bragging rights.

Maybe we could create an award given to the player, “Who plays the best with his helmet so high on his head that he has to look through his facemask”.  I’m sure guys like Kelly Bates and Doug Brown would appreciate the recognition!

The possibilities are endless and this is just the beginning.  If you’re reading this then you are already in the right place.  Click on this link now and vote!

…and in case you were wondering, Canada, my name is Jeff Piercy, I play in the Eastern Division, and I can be found under the “RB” column.

Jeff Piercy is in his fourth CFL season.  He was a second round pick in the 2005 Canadian Draft.
