HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed a pair of free agent import defensive backs, Will Poole and Jason Shivers.  Both players spent the last two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts.

“Will and Jason are great all-around players who will bring speed and aggressiveness to our defence,” said General Manager Bob O’Billovich.

Poole, a 5-10, 194-pound native of Beckley, West Virginia, has recorded 70 defensive tackles, one quarterback sack, three tackles for losses and two interceptions in two seasons as an Argo.  The former USC Trojan was a fourth-round draft pick of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins in 2004 and also attended training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007.

Shivers, a 6-1, 191-pound native of Phoenix, Arizona registered 94 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, one tackle for a loss, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three interceptions in 31 games with Toronto over the past two years.  The Arizona State product was selected in the fifth round (158th overall) by the St. Louis Rams in the 2004 Draft and has also spent time with the Chicago Bears, New York Giants and NFL Europe’s Hamburg Sea Devils.
