WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Football Club announced today that recently retired Blue Bomber defensive lineman Doug Brown along with former Presidents of the WFC, Ken Matchett and Reg Low will be inducted into the Blue Bomber Hall of Fame in 2012.  The 2012 Legacy Dinner is scheduled for Monday June 18th, 2012.

“We are very excited to be inducting three very worthy members of our Blue Bomber family into the Hall of Fame,” said Blue Bomber President and CEO, Garth Buchko.

“Both Ken and Reg were excellent examples of how to successfully oversee the Winnipeg Football Club during their tenures as President, and Doug has just wrapped up a career in which he cemented himself as a true Canadian Football League legend. On behalf of the entire Football Club, we would like to extend our congratulations to these three honourees.”

Matchett and Low each spent two years as President of the Winnipeg Football Club, Matchett from 1986-1987 and Low from 1994-1995.  While overseeing all areas of the organization, both men also volunteered their time on numerous committees and still work closely with the WFC on various projects.

Brown recently retired from an 11-year CFL career, all with the Blue Bombers. He finished his career in second place on the Blue Bombers’ all-time tackles list with 429 and in third place on the team’s all-time quarterback sack list with 52.

A seven-time All-Star, Brown played in 188 career games and was honoured as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2001.

All three honourees will be officially inducted during the Football Club’s annual Legacy Dinner on June 18th, 2012 at Canad Inns Polo Park.  For more information on how to purchase tickets to the dinner, fans can call the Blue Bomber office at 784-2583
