CFL Scouting Bureau releases December rankings

TORONTO — The Canadian Football League Scouting Bureau today published its winter edition of the top 15 ranked prospects eligible for the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft and it includes a new number one ranked player.
 
Moving up two spots to number one is Bo Lokombo, a 6’3”, 233 pound linebacker from the University of Oregon. In the 2012 season, Lokombo recorded 34 tackles, two quarterback sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble and four pass knockdowns. Oregon is scheduled to play Kansas State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Thursday, January 3, 2013.  
 
Rounding out the top five are McMaster University offensive lineman Matt Sewell, University of Calgary defensive lineman Linden Gaydosh, University of Regina defensive lineman Stefan Charles, McMaster defensive lineman Ben D’Aguilar.

BY THE NUMBERS
 
The ranking includes seven defensive linemen, four offensive linemen, two linebackers, one receiver and one running back.
 
Twelve of the 15 ranked players on last winter’s CFL Scouting Bureau list (it was published in January) were selected in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft. Five of those players were selected in the first round.
 
CFL CONNECTIONS
 
Two players on the CFL Scouting Bureau’s December ranking for the 2013 draft class have brothers who are currently playing or played in the CFL.
 
Calgary running back Steven Lumbala, ranked 13th, is the younger brother of Rolly Lumbala, a full back with the BC Lions. Rolly was drafted ninth overall by the Lions in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft.
 
Eastern Michigan defensive lineman Kalonji Kashama, ranked 15th, is the younger brother of Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive end Fernand Kashama and former CFL players Hakeem and Alain Kashama. Fernand was drafted 16th overall by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft and Alain was drafted eighth overall by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2004 CFL Canadian Draft. Hakeem was undrafted.
