OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS have added five players to the team roster today: defensive lineman Brandon Lang and defensive back Bo Smith, both CFL veterans, along with three wide receivers: Eric Rogers, DJ Woods and Jason Bruce (Troy).
Lang, a 6-foot-4, 257-lb. native of Tucker, Georgia, is a two-year CFL veteran with the Edmonton Eskimos. The 27-year-old had 11 tackles and three special teams tackles last season.
He played college football at Troy University in Alabama and was signed by the San Diego Chargers in 2010.
Smith (6-feet, 185-lbs.) from Owensboro, Kentucky, spent five seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, with six interceptions and 163 tackles. He played with Winnipeg during the 2013 season.
Rogers, considered one of the top players in the history of California Lutheran football, set several all-time school records. He caught 220 passes for 3,461 yards and 41 touchdowns during his collegiate career, including 91 catches for 1,298 yards and 18 majors in his senior year of 2012.
He was signed by the Dallas Cowboys in May of 2013 before being waived in late August during training camp. He then joined the Portland Thunder of the Arena Football League.
Woods played from 2008-2011 with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats of the Big East Conference, totally 159 catches for 2,156 yards and 14 touchdowns, and also served as a punt and kickoff returner.
He signed with the Tennessee Titans of the NFL in May of 2013 and was later released.
Bruce, a native of Natchez, Mississippi, played two collegiate seasons at Troy (2009-2010), totaling 71 catches and 924 yards with seven touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown pass in his final season with the Trojans.
