Alouettes release All-Star WR Carter

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes announced that they have released wide receiver Duron Carter prior to the start of free agency, so he can further pursue his pending NFL opportunity. Carter was set to be a free agent on February 10.

In the two seasons in the CFL, both with the Alouettes, Carter collected 124 receptions for 1,939 yards and scored 12 touchdowns.

Carter had his best season during the 2014 capaign. He finished third in reciving yards with 1,030 and had the second most recving touchdowns with seven.

Earlier this week, Carter signed a deal with the Indianapolis Cots, joining another former CFLer, OL Ben Heenan.
