EDMONTON — Cory Watson’s move west is going just a little bit further, after the Edmonton Eskimos announced on Monday they’ve acquired the veteran national slotback in a trade with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Esks also added a 2016 second round pick, while going back the other way are the rights to national long-snapper Jorgen Hus and a third round pick in the 2016 CFL Canadian Draft.

The move marks the second time this off-season the Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que. native has been traded, after the Riders first acquired him along with a third round pick from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for receiver Kris Bastien and a second round pick.

A five-year CFL veteran, Watson spent his career in Winnipeg after being selected in the second round (ninth overall) of the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft out of Concordia University. Over his five seasons as a Blue Bomber, he played 67 games with 178 receptions for 2,217 yards and six touchdowns before he was traded to the Roughriders on Jan. 29, 2015.

Hus was selected by the Eskimos in the fourth round (31st overall) of the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft out of the University of Regina. He then signed with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, spending the 2013 and 2014 training camps with the Rams. Hus also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs before being released by Kansas City on May 5, 2015.

Watson joins an already-deep Eskimos receiving corps that includes last year’s leading receiver Adarius Bowman and highly-touted nationals Shamawd Chambers and Devon Bailey, among others.
