SHERBROOKE – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that international wide receiver Brandon London has decided to retire from professional football.

London (6’4″, 210 lbs.) played four seasons in the CFL, all with the Alouettes, where he cumulated 2,192 yards on 138 receptions, while scoring eight touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2012 when he amassed 848 yards on 44 catches, including three for touchdowns.

“Today, the Montreal Alouettes celebrate the playing career of Brandon London,” said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp. “He has been an outstanding contributor on and off the field, a tremendous teammate, and a real pleasure to work with on a day-to-day basis. We wish Brandon continued success in his business ventures and in life. Thank you Brandon London and thank you for being an outstanding Montreal Alouette.”

The 30-year-old joined the Alouettes in 2010 as a member of the team’s practice roster, helping his teammates hoist the Grey Cup at the conclusion of that season. He was also a member of the New York Giants practice roster, which won the Super Bowl following the 2007 season.

“I want to thank Jim Popp for allowing me to live my dream of playing professional football and allowing me to play on a team with such great stability, declared London. “I had the chance to learn from great players and great teammates such as Jamel Richardson, S.J. Green, Anthony Calvillo and Ricky Santos. Merci to all the greats fans in Montreal who have supported me throughout the years. I wish to thank all the great people that have helped me on and off the field in Montreal, including those that have helped me prepare for my life off the field in the entertainment field.”

London also collected 14-career tackles.
