REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Monday night that they have relieved Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Brendan Taman as well as and Head Coach Corey Chamblin of their duties.

In the interim Assistant General Manager and Director, Football Operations Jeremy O’Day will take over the GM role while Special Teams Coordinator Bob Dyce will take over the sideline duties.

“We are not meeting our expectations or our standards on the field and these changes were necessary to move us forward,” stated Riders President & CEO Craig Reynolds.

“Brendan and Corey worked tirelessly for this organization and I thank them for all that they have done for our team,” continued Reynolds. “But we are in a results oriented business and the current position of our team is unacceptable and this decision was necessary for us to build this team towards sustained success.”

The shakeup comes amidst an 0-9 start to the 2015 season after the Riders lost both their no. 1 and no. 2 quarterbacks in Darian Durant and Kevin Glenn.

Taman was in the middle of his sixth season as the man at the helm of the Riders organization after building a Grey Cup champion squad in 2013. Helping lead that charge was Chamblin who was hired by Taman in 2012 to man the sideline.

Chamblin departs Saskatchewan with a record of 29-34 over a span of four seasons.

Chamblin, a stout defensive mind throughout his career, saw his club take a step back with a defence that was among the bottom of the pack in a number of major defensive categories this year.

His reign as head coach was a relatively short but memorable one in Regina, highlighted by the Riders’ 102nd Grey Cup championship won on home turf just two seasons ago. That same season, he was named the League’s Coach of the Year.

The Riders are in action again on Sunday in a heated rivalry matchup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
