REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have locked up their leading receiver for two more years, announcing Thursday they’ve agreed to a contract extension with Naaman Roosevelt through 2018.

Roosevelt remains the team’s leading receiver and the eighth-leading receiver in the CFL with 1,095 yards on 76 catches, despite playing in only 11 games due to injury.

A Buffalo graduate, Roosevelt originally joined the Green and White as a free agent in March, 2015 after spending parts of five seasons in the NFL. Through his first two CFL seasons, the 28-year-old Buffalo native has played 21 games, registering 101 receptions for 1,583 yards and seven touchdowns.

This season, Roosevelt earned nomination as the Riders’ Most Outstanding Player. He was named a CFL Top Performer for Week 5 after registering a season-high 182 receiving yards.

As per club policy, financial details of the contract were not released.
