OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS have signed 2017 sixth round draft pick and receiver Austen Hartley, the team announced Tuesday.
The Calgary Dino was picked 53rd overall by Ottawa after being named a Canada West All-Star for the first time in his career in 2016, leading the conference in yards per game (110.2) thanks to his 661 receiving yards on 45 receptions.
Hartley, plagued by a mid-season injury, was forced to miss two weeks last season as well as the Hardy Cup — but the versatile receiver still managed to total four touchdowns throughout his banner season.
The 5-foot-10, 186-pound receiver participated in the Western Regional Combine, running a 4.59 in the 40 while leading the field with a shuttle time of 4.19.
