KAMLOOPS — The BC Lions Football Club today announced that international defensive back Anthony Gaitor has re-signed with the team.

Gaitor emerged in the second half of last season, earning a starting spot in the Leos secondary.  In January, Gaitor signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints but was waived by the NFL club last week, signalling his return to BC.

“Anthony adapted to our game very quickly last season and was a valuable addition to our defence,” said GM and head coach Wally Buono. “We’re pleased to have him back and I look forward to the competition this creates in our secondary.”

Gaitor made starts for the Leos in the final 10 regular season games of the 2016 season recording 35 defensive stops. He notched his first CFL interception in Edmonton on September 23 and followed that up with a 37-yard pick-6 versus Ottawa on October 1. He tallied another five tackles in the postseason as well as an interception in the Western Final.
