REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders made a pair of roster moves Thursday morning, announcing the addition of veteran national safety Mike Dubuisson.

The team also added that it has released former NFL running back Daniel Thomas.

Dubuisson fills the void left by Marc-Olivier Brouillette, whose retirement last Sunday came as a surprise on the day camps opened up. The 25-year-old Dubuisson was acquired through the 2014 supplemental draft (fifth round pick).

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Montreal native joins Jeff Hecht and Mike Edem at the Riders’ safety position, re-joining Chris Jones two years after the two won a Grey Cup together in Edmonton.

Thomas’ departure adds some clarity to a still-busy running back situation in Regina. The Riders’ running back position is among the top training camp battles to watch over the next few weeks.
