Report: Dressler unlikely to play in Week 7

The Canadian Press

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers could be without their star receiver this week as they head to Ottawa to take on the REDBLACKS.

According to multiple reports, Dressler did not participate in practice on Monday and is unlikely to dress in the game on Friday.

Dressler has been Matt Nichols’ favourite target in the first quarter of the 207 season, catching a team-high 342 yards on 23 receptions. He’s also scored two majors, matching his total from 2016.

Ryan Lankford took Dressler’s place in practice and could be his replacement if the Bombers’ leading wideout isn’t ready for action by the end of the week. Lankford, a 25-year-old wide receiver, has played special teams for Winnipeg this season and has returned 16 punts for 132 yards and 24 kickoff returns for 654 yards.
