RotoExperts: Week 8 Fantasy Rankings

The Canadian Press

Why is Edmonton’s Mike Reilly atop the quarterback rankings again? Well, why not? Over the past three weeks, the Eskimos’ pivot has been the most consistent producer in Fantasy play, and he has an excellent opportunity to make it four in a row when Edmonton puts its undefeated run on the line at Ottawa to open Week 8. Reilly has thrown for over 300 yards and passed for multiple touchdowns in his past three contests while also rushing for four majors in the same span. It will cost $14,000 for Fantasy owners to add Reilly to their roster, money well spent considering he’s averaging 31.8 FP per game over the last three games.

Travis Lulay looks like he might get one more start for a BC team that is 3-1 with him at the helm. His potential swan song from the Lions offence costs $11,195, giving Fantasy players another shot with him firing downfield to Chris Williams ($6,460) and Bryan Burnham ($5,649). Meanwhile, the status of Ricky Ray ($9,486) and his injured shoulder makes him more risky, as the Argonauts visit a tough Montreal defence coming off its first open week.

Despite not scoring a major for the first time this season, BC running back Jeremiah Johnson ($8,912) tops the position in both salary and ranking. Expect Johnson to find the goal line against a Saskatchewan defence that allowed 547 total yards of offence in last week’s 30-15 defeat. Ottawa may again turn to Mossis Madu ($6,941) against Edmonton if William Powell ($5,695) is unable to go after sustaining an injury in last week’s loss to Winnipeg. The Alouettes are expected to have Tyrell Sutton ($6,716) back after he missed the two games prior to their open week, while Eskimos back LaDarius Perkins is a bargain at $2,500 following his 103-yard effort on the ground against Hamilton.

To no surprise, REDBLACKS receiver Greg Ellingson ($6,821) is atop the ranking at the position and should be a must-start despite facing an Edmonton pass defence that ranks near the top of the league in a host of categories. Argos slot S.J. Green ($5,527) will also be a popular Fantasy play as he makes his return to Montreal after spending the first ten years of his career with the Als. Speaking of the Alouettes, B.J. Cunningham ($5,711) bids for his third straight 100-yard game and cracks the Top 5 this week.
The Winnipeg defence ($4,950) faces winless Hamilton, with the Montreal D ($4,750) getting a potentially solid matchup if the Argonauts choose to rest Ray in favor of backup Cody Fajardo.
