Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: A battle for the top spot in the East

Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

TORONTO — In this week’s Marquee Matchup, the two top teams in the East Division go head to head in Montreal.

With a Toronto win, the Argos will stay afloat at the top of the East. But a Montreal win? The Alouettes will tie for first with their division rivals.

The contest isn’t just a battle for position, it’s also a homecoming for slotback S.J. Green.

Green spent his entire CFL career with the Alouettes before heading to Toronto to join the Argonauts. Expect him to get into the game early and often against his former team but he may not be catching passes from his usual pivot. Ricky Ray hasn’t been confirmed to start the match after leaving last week’s game against the Stampeders with an apparent shoulder injury.

The Alouettes, on the other hand, are fresh of their Week 7 bye and will be hungry for a win. Darian Durant and co. have started to gel together over the last few weeks. Ernest Jackson and B.J. Cunningham have found chemistry with the Als quarterback and will be heavily relied upon against a stingy Toronto defence.

In this week’s CFL.ca Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup, we’ll see which team will end up on top of the East Division. Who are you taking?

Pick Trend

The fans are siding with the home team this week, with 70 per cent picking Montreal to defeat the Toronto Argonauts.

Don’t count out the Argos, however, because the Alouettes offence has to go up against a tough Toronto defence – they league in sacks with 25. It’ll be up to the Als offensive line to protect Darian Durant this week if they want to have an success on offence and prove the majority of the fans wrong.
