Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Esks, Stamps eye first in the West

Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

TORONTO — This week’s Marquee Matchup features two Western opponents eyeing the top spot in the division.

Calgary sits ahead of Edmonton but by just a single point. Can the Stamps hold onto its position or will the Esks make the jump into first place?

The Eskimos have collected two-straight losses since starting the season 7-0 and will be looking to turn things around this week with a win. The Stampeders, on the other hand, have been rolling with five-straight victories.

The league’s leading rusher, Jerome Messam, will be public enemy No. 1 for the Eskimos defensive line – a defensive line was beefed up last week with the addition of John Chick. Meanwhile, the Stampeders secondary will have their hands full with the likes of Duke Williams, Vidal Hazelton and Brandon Zylstra all catching passes from the ever-dangerous Mike Reilly.

But if any team can match the Eskimos offensively, it’s the Stampeders as Bo Levi Mitchell and co. have outscored their opponents 172-59 over their last five games.

In this week’s CFL.ca Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup, we’ll see who really is best in the West. Who are you taking?

The fans are siding with the home team. They have good reason to take the Stampeders to win this one as they have yet to lose a game at McMahon Stadium this year.

Talk about a home field advantage.
