Riders’ QB Glenn sidelined by apparent hand injury

The Canadian Press

REGINA — After a 20-point loss in the Banjo Bowl Saturday, Riders fans are waiting with bated breath on the status of injured quarterback Kevin Glenn.

Glenn, 38, exited in the third quarter of the team’s 48-28 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with what appeared to be an injured throwing hand.

The 17-year CFL veteran was enjoying a banner year at the helm of the resurgent Riders, adding two more touchdowns on Saturday to up his total to 21 on the season. He exited the contest with 327 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on 15-of-22 passing, making way for Canadian pivot Brandon Bridge.

Glenn was spotted on the Riders’ sideline with his helmet on throughout the fourth quarter, but Bridge played out the rest of the game for the Riders, completing four of eight passing attempts for 67 yards, a rushing touchdown and an interception.

Should the Riders lose Glenn for any period of time, Bridge, a 25-year-old out of South Alabama, is likely the next man up. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Toronto native was a fourth round pick in 2015 by the Montreal Alouettes, making his first career start later that season.

After being released by the Alouettes during the 2016 season, Bridge promptly landed with the Riders, earning the backup job this season in training camp.

In his career, Bridge has thrown for 648 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions on 50-of-73 passing.
