EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have released veteran receiver Chris Getzlaf, the team announced Tuesday.

The 34-year-old was in his second season with the Eskimos, providing veteran support while hauling in five catches for 43 yards and a touchdown over eight games.

A native of Regina, Getzlaf spent his first nine seasons in Saskatchewan. He joined the Eskimos as a free agent in 2016, going on to amass 455 receiving yards and two touchdowns over 18 games.

The Eskimos also announced Tuesday they’ve added national defensive lineman Kalonji Kashama.

Looking to thwart a five-game losing streak, the Esks are back in action on Saturday when they take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
