Stamps RB Messam won’t play vs. Als

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders will be without usual starting running back Jerome Messam when they take on the Montreal Alouettes on Friday night.

Messam, 32, is the CFL’s leading rusher with 897 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s been the focal point of the Stamps’ offence, helping them to a league-best 11-1-1 start this season.

Taking Messam’s place in the backfield will be 25-year-old Terry Williams, a 5-foot-9, 204-pound running back out of Kutztown. Williams, a rookie, played in pre-season and has dressed for two games in 2017, carrying the ball once for a loss of one yard.

Roy Finch is also expected to see action in the Stamps’ backfield, as they look to win their 10th straight game and 17th in a row at home.

The Stampeders come into Friday’s Week 15 clash on a short week, having just defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday evening. With that said, injured receivers Kamar Jorden and DaVaris Daniels also remain out of the lineup along with linebacker Deron Mayo.
