Canadian Football Legends Invite Fans to Celebrate at The Shaw CFL Awards and Rev-Up Party

OTTAWA-GATINEAU – For the first time ever, the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, the Canadian Football League and the Grey Cup Festival presented by Shaw are teaming up to bring football fans from across the country the ultimate CFL experience in celebration of the 105th Grey Cup presented by Shaw. The 2017 Shaw CFL Awards and Rev-Up party will give fans a one-of-a-kind opportunity to recognize and celebrate with the League’s greatest players and coaches in style.

“The Grey Cup Festival presented by Shaw brings fans from coast to coast together each year to celebrate one of Canada’s most iconic sporting events, and this year we’re taking it up a notch,” said OSEG CEO Bernie Ashe. “We are thrilled that Canadians will get the chance to connect with some of football’s world-class athletes and league executives and we can’t wait to showcase the best of what RNation has to offer our nation.”

The evening will begin with a red carpet arrival, where the League’s star players, renowned Alumni and Hall of Famers will converge.

After a cocktail reception, the 2017 Shaw CFL Awards will take place in the Shaw Centre Canada Hall to recognize 11 notable personalities from around the League for their performances both on and off the field. These awards include Most Outstanding Rookie, Most Outstanding Defensive Player, Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, Most Outstanding Special Teams Player, Most Outstanding Player, Most Outstanding Canadian, Commissioner’s Award, Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Affairs Award, Tom Pate Award, Hugh Campbell Distinguished Leadership Award, and Coach of the Year Award.

“The passion and dedication of generations of CFL fans across the country combine to make the Grey Cup one of the biggest events of the year,” says Chethan Lakshman, Vice President, External Affairs, Shaw Communications. “We are excited to bring CFL fans closer to the game, and give them this opportunity to celebrate with their favourite players and coaches just days before the 105th Grey Cup presented by Shaw.”

Following the Awards, fans are invited to continue to celebrate with the rest of Our Nation with a live DJ, more special guests and of course, the CFL honourees of the evening. Fans will not get a better chance to mix and mingle with their favourite stars than at this party, nor will there be a better way to get revved up for the week of festivities that culminates with the Grey Cup game on Sunday, November 26th at TD Place.

Fewer than 500 tickets remain for the 105th Grey Cup in a variety of sections and price points.

The excitement will begin on November 21 when the Grey Cup arrives in the nation’s capital to kick-off the Grey Cup Festival presented by Shaw. The week-long festival will feature more than 30 free and ticketed events – headlined by the Grey Cup Festival Concert Series presented by TD, 2017 Shaw CFL Awards and Rev-up Party, Nissan Titan Street Festival, Gridiron Gals event, Family Fun Zone and the ever-popular RNation Party – offering something for everyone.
