Just in Time: Coombs readying for return to Argos lineup

TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts could be getting one of their most versatile offensive weapons back as Anthony Coombs looks close to returning to action.

The Canadian Press reported on Tuesday that Coombs practised with the Argos on Tuesday, and is expected to dress for the team’s regular season finale on Saturday. Coombs was just actived from the six-game injured list.

The slotback/running back has been out since August with a shoulder injury and was enjoying a career year before the setback.  Frequently targeted in Marc Trestman’s offence, he hauled in 47 passes for 426 yards and a touchdown in nine games.

Three of those receptions came in the very Week 9 game he injured his shoulder in.

Should Coombs return, it couldn’t come at a more critical time for the Argos, who have a chance to clinch first place in the East Division with a win on Saturday in BC.
