CALGARY — Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell called his team’s Western Final performance “gritty” following a 32-28 win over the visiting Edmonton Eskimos at McMahon Stadium on Sunday evening.
“Very gritty,” Mitchell told TSN‘s Sara Orlesky. “We knew we were playing a very hot team, (and) they gave us a great shot in the beginning to go up 14 points.”
Mitchell and co. responded with a 22-point second quarter and never looked back.
“Going down 14-0 and being able to put up three straight touchdowns, we took the wind out of their sails,” continued Mitchell, who finished the day with 20 completions, 228 pass yards and a touchdown. “It was gritty from everybody.”

Looking ahead to Toronto and Corey Chamblin’s well-oiled defence, Mitchell knows his offence is in for a challenge.
“We know we have a great opponent coming up,” said the Texas-born Stamps pivot. “We’ve got to lock in and focus up.”
As for the opportunity to return to the Grey Cup and avenge last year’s overtime defeat, the Calgary quarterback says it is the minimum expectation within the organization.
“Honestly, I expect to be there every year,” said Mitchell. “It’s the mindset of our team and coaches — it means the world to me, (and) I’m looking forward to having a shot at redemption.”
