Als to move training camp to ‘Big O’ for first time

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday that their 2018 training camp will take place from May 20 to June 9 at Olympic Stadium, on the indoor and outdoor football fields.

It will be the first time that the team holds its camp in this facility after spending the last number of years in Sherbrooke.  Olympic Stadium has been the home of the Alouettes a number of times throughout their existence but the club has not played their since the 2012 Eastern Final despite having their football operations in the building.

“We are happy to have the camp in Montreal. It will help us connect with our fans by allowing them to come watch our practices,” said Reed. “Our players have been training extremely hard in the past months, so we expect the competition to be strong. We are really excited to get started.”

All practices during training camp will be open to the public and free of charge.

Olympic Stadium played host to the 2018 CFL Eastern Regional Combine earlier this week for the first time as well.

The Alouettes will kick off their regular season on Saturday, June 16, with a matchup versus the Lions at BC Place. The following week, Montreal will host its first home game of the 2018 regular season when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit Percival Molson Stadium on Friday, June 22, at 7:00 p.m.
