CFL Game Time – Ottawa Edition!

It’s Thursday friends which means you’re likely counting down the hours until work is done (Friday junior right?) so you can watch some Thursday Night Football on TSN! Before you tune into TSN at 7pm ET we insist you swing by CFL Facebook OR CFL.ca/live to watch our show CFL Game Time!

If you guys missed the big announcement (we get it you were camping without wifi) and didn’t tune in last week here’s what you need to know. Our team is taking our show on the road this summer, coming at you LIVE Thursday nights from the host stadium. This week are are obviously in Ottawa (REDBLACKS host Riders 7:30ET kick off) and we are filming our show from Craft Beer Market right at TD Place – so if you live in the area why not come by and hang?

CFL Game Time (tonight 6:30ET) is all about giving you guys MORE. We talk football (naturally) but also try and bring all of you a different side of CFL players like our new series VS. – this one has Adams and Dressler trying to flip keys into a bowl…lol. We also bring you an interview with the Thursday Night Football Concert Series performers, this week we get to interview the wildly talented Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine – love their song Ain’t Easy.

MORE ON CFL GAME TIME

CFL Game Time  is made among the fans, for the fans: Brodie Lawson and Davis Sanchez are travelling across Canada visiting each CFL city from Week 1 to Week 11. The show is filmed live in-stadium from the most fan-centric areas of CFL stadiums, encouraging fans to come out and show their team pride

On Location: When is CFL Game Time coming to your city?

In putting this show together you can imagine we have a LOT of fun on the road so I am hoping to bring you a little behind the scenes blog each week to let you know what our team is up to!

We arrived in Ottawa Tuesday morning so we could get an extra day to film with our pal Diontae Spencer. He is the focus of a new CFL Originals piece coming out in a few weeks. It’s an emotional story that we feel honoured to tell so stay tuned for more on that in the coming weeks.

On Wednesday we were at media availability for both the REDBLACKS and the Roughriders. I interviewed Greg Ellingson for a LEGIT 20 Questions as well as Diontae (again – told you he’s our pal) for a segment called Texts From My Mom which you can see tonight during CFL Game Time. We also interviewed Duron Carter – maybeeee my favourite 20 Questions of ALL TIME and Willie Jefferson about playing with Hughes. You guys can check that interview out during CFL Game Time tonight 6:30ET.

Wednesday night we went to Fatboys in Ottawa for some BBQ and happened to bump into our buds from TSN who were also there – I forgot to grab a photo, my blogging will improve I promise. On our walk home we caught one of the most glorious sunsets I’ve ever seen. Ottawa is truly one of the country’s most beautiful cities, this shot confirms this thought. You can see more on my Instagram @BrodieLawson

This morning I woke up as I always do on Thursday game days SUPER excited mixed with a touch of nerves. I headed straight over to Westboro beach where the CTV Ottawa crew was hanging for their morning show because it’s the first day of summer – so why not go to the beach? I was interviewed by my longtime CFL pal Henry Burris about CFL Game Time. For those that don’t know I started my career in Hamilton in 2013 when Henry was the QB for the Ticats. I was so…green and he was such a veteran that I used to interview him nearly everyday. Today was the second time he has interviewed me and it struck me just as much today how cool that is, it’s really a full circle moment and also…how is this my job!?

Can’t wait to see you all tonight, be sure to tune into CFL Game Time at 6:30 ET on the CFL Facebook or CFL.ca/live – it’s going to be an awesome show. I’ll be back blogging next week, so let me know what BTS moments you’d like to see from CALGARY!!
