Week 5 brought us a pair of nail-bitingly close ‘ball games, along with another edition of the Stamps flexing their defensive muscle.
Plenty went on around the league from a social standpoint, so let’s take a look!
Thursday | Calgary 27, Ottawa 3
Despite Bo Levi Mitchell’s second-quarter exit, the Stamps cruised to a 24-point win in the nation’s capital on the strength of their stifling defence.
Running back Don Jackson broke it down pre-game, setting the tone for a win on Thursday Night Football.

Former Stamp Marquay McDaniel weighed in on Twitter during the game.

The game was decided by Calgary’s defence, and linebacker Alex Singleton got some love for his post-game tweet.
4-0. Proud of the way this team plays! As always a lot to work on… for now enjoy this one Stamps Nation! #GoStampsGo #1-0

Friday | Edmonton 16, Toronto 15
Friday was the return of #LiveMic, and TSN’s Jay and Dan took a playful shot at TSN sideline reporter Matthew Scianitti prior to the contest at Commonwealth Stadium.
What we’re hoping @Rikester13 and the @EdmontonEsks have planned as an audible for tonight’s @CFL #LiveMic game 😂 #JayAndDan #Shooter pic.twitter.com/c3m89OCmkW

While the game was bogged down by torrential rain, the halftime act from international performing artist Ludacris rocked the house — and drew the attention of social media.
I don’t think any Friday night can possibly be as lit as watching Ludacris play halftime in the rain in Edmonton. #CFL

The weather was definitely a factor on the field, and the Argos weren’t afraid to put it bluntly.

Saturday | BC 20, Winnipeg 17
BC’s wild 17-point comeback made for some great social material.
Firstly, Winnipeg was rather confident with a double-digit first half lead.

The Lions kept it short and sweet.

Ultimately, that was the kind of fourth-quarter comeback that makes neutral football fans fall in love with this wild, unpredictable league.
This fourth quarter is why people love the #CFL.
