Collaros taken off six-game injured list

REGINA — The return of Zach Collaros could be soon as the Roughriders pivot was taken off of the six-game injured list, the team announced Monday.

Collaros was added to the six-game ahead of the team’s matchup against the Montreal Alouettes in Week 3. The 29-year-old pivot left Week 2’s contest against Ottawa with an injury obtained in the second quarter and did not return for the rest of the game.

“It looks as if after the bye he should be fine,” head coach Chris Jones told members of the media after Saturday night’s game against the Stampeders when asked if Collaros will make his return soon.

That means fans in Riderville could see Collaros back in action in Week 10, when the Stampeders are in town once again.

In Collaros’ absence, Brandon Bridge filled in for the majority of snaps but Jones has used David Watford as well. In six games, Bridge has thrown 669 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions while also rushing 20 times for 82 yards. Watford, meanwhile, has thrown 168 yards, one touchdown and two interception and added 14 carries for 83 yards.

In the two games that Collaros has played in this season, he’s thrown for 309 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Saskatchewan heads to Edmonton this weekend to take on the Eskimos before heading out on a Week 9 bye.
