MONTREAL — The ink had barely dried on the official press release, yet the speculation was already well under way.

‘Where will Duron Carter play next?’

Carter, one of the CFL’s biggest stars, was released in a shocking move by the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday night.

According to Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette, Als general manager Kavis Reed has already expressed interest in bringing Carter back to where his career in the CFL began.

“GM Kavis Reed told me after the game he will contact receiver Duron Carter,” Zurkowsky tweeted.

Carter started his career with the then-Jim Popp led Alouettes in 2013 and generated just under 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns in 40 games before being released in 2016 following confrontations with teammates at practice.

He has spent the last two seasons in Saskatchewan. Last season, his first with the Riders, Carter piled up 1,043 yards on 73 receptions while scoring eight touchdowns, helping the resurgent Riders win 10 games and reach the Eastern Final.
