WINNIPEG — After the Winnipeg Blue Bombers loss to the Ottawa REDBLACKS on Friday night, quarterback Matt Nichols didn’t hold back any emotions when speaking to members of the media.

“Losing sucks,” Nichols said bluntly. “They (Ottawa) did a good job tonight. It is what it is and you move on.”

The Bombers had their three-game winning streak snapped at Investors Groups Field with a 44-21 loss to the REDBLACKS.

Ottawa’s offence was efficient and the usually dominant Bombers defence wasn’t able to contain Trevor Harris and co. as the REDBLACKS accumulated 500 yards of total offence. Harris tossed for 361 yards and a touchdown through the air while running back William Powell had over 100 yards and a major on the ground.

“They executed their game plan really well,” linebacker Adam Bighill said. “I told Trevor after the game that he had a heck of a game. He played awesome. He threw the ball on point, on time.”

Darvin Adams had a stellar night for the Bombers in the loss as the pass-catcher hauled in 162 yards and two touchdowns. His quarterback was happy with how his receiver was involved in the offence despite not walking away with the win.

“He did some great stuff tonight,” Nichols said of Adams. “He’s a big time player for us. I know the last couple games that we haven’t had him involved enough and tonight we did have him involved in the offence a little bit.”

Winnipeg will now have the tough task of visiting the undefeated Calgary Stampeders in Week 11 and will learn from their mistakes made this week to try and hand them their first loss of 2018.

“This is a teaching lesson in itself and it’s something that we have to learn from,” said Bighill. “It’s going to be an opportunity to go back and watch film and clean everything up.”
