Lions release defensive lineman Gabriel Knapton

The Canadian Press

VANCOUVER — The BC Lions have officially announced the release of defensive lineman Gabriel Knapton after it had been initially been reported by 3 Down Nation‘s Justin Dunk.

Knapton found himself as a member of the BC Lions after a trade in December that sent receiver Chris Williams to Montreal in exchange for the defensive player.

The native of Mead, Colorado is in his fifth season in the league and had registered a total of 190 tackles over a span of 76 games, while also adding 33 quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles.

With the recent departure of Shawn Lemon from the Argos, Dunk believes the Double Blue may be a frontrunner in bringing in a veteran pass-rusher like Knapton.
