Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Sparks will fly between Esks, Ticats

The Canadian Press

HAMILTON — Two of the CFL’s hottest offences clash in this week’s Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup as the Edmonton Eskimos head to Hamilton for a tussle with the Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field.

Eskimos pivot Mike Reilly leads the league in yards with 3,046 while Ticats QB Jeremiah Masoli is third with 2,465. Edmonton’s power pass-catching duo Duke Williams and Derel Walker are first and second in receiving yards with 831 and 816 respectively. While Hamilton’s own pair, Brandon Banks and Jalen Saunders, sit fourth and fifth.

Both teams boast strong run games as well. Eskimo C.J. Gable is third in the league in rushing yards with 532. He’ll look to add to that total in his first time returning to Hamilton since being traded last season as the Ticats give up the most rushing yards per game (128.4) in the league. Hamilton is second in the CFL in rushing touchdowns with 11 and Alex Green has collected four of those in just two games he’s played this season.

Both teams are eyeing moving up in their respective divisions with a win. Edmonton is just two points behind the Stampeders for first in the West while Hamilton is looking to leap frog Toronto for second in the East.

In what is sure to be an offensive showdown in Tiger-Town, which team comes out on top?

The fans are siding with the visiting team as 70 per cent are choosing Edmonton to beat the Tiger-Cats.

Don’t count out the home team, however. Hamilton took first meeting between these two teams, 38-21, in Week 2. Can the Ticats sweep the season series?
