Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: 106th Grey Cup Preview?

The Canadian Press

HAMILTON — This week’s Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup between the Calgary Stampeders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats could be a 106th Grey Cup presented by Shaw preview.

The Stampeders have been the hottest team in the league this year, sitting on top of the West Division with a 9-2 record. The Tiger-Cats on the other hand, sit tied for points with Ottawa for first place in the East Division and are heating up at the right time in the season.

Calgary is coming off a loss against the Edmonton Eskimos while the Ticats defeated the Toronto Argonauts last week for their third-straight win.

Hamilton boasts the league’s best pass defence and they’ll need to be in fine form to keep Bo Levi Mitchell and his pass-catchers in check this weekend.

Alex Green has been the best running back in the CFL since his return from a hand injury just a few weeks ago. In five games the Tiger-Cats tailback has scored eight touchdowns. Stuffing the run will be objective number one for the Stamps front seven.

Speaking of running backs, it really hasn’t mattered who is in the backfield for the Stampeders this season, Don Jackson or Romar Morris. Calgary’s offensive line has been solid enough to open up holes for either to explode onto the scene.

Can the Stampeders improve to 9-3 or will Hamilton take over sole possession of first place in the East? Find out on Saturday.

The fans are siding with the visitors this week but don’t count out the home team.

Hamilton has one three in a row and with the league’s best pass defence and one of the hottest offences, they have a chance to hand the Stamps their third loss of the season.
