Report: James Wilder Jr. sidelined for Week 17 vs Lions

TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts will be without running back James Wilder Jr. for their Week 17 matchup against the BC Lions according to a report made by Dan Ralph of The Canadian Press. According to the report, Wilder is being listed as week-to-week.

The reigning Most Outstanding Rookie suffered a leg injury in the Boatmen’s 38-16 loss to the Calgary Stampeders in Week 16 at McMahon Stadium.

In 2018, Wilder ranks as the Argos leading rusher with 691 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, in the receiving game, Wilder has kept on paise with his rushing numbers, posting 531 receiving yards and a touchdown off of 56 receptions, good for third on the team’s receiving leaders list.

In the event of Wilder being sidelined for Week 17, the Double Blue will likely look to Dexter McCluster for the majority of the responsibilities out of the backfield. The former NFL Pro-Bowler made his CFL debut last week against the Stamps, totalling 119 all-purpose yards in replacement of Wilder, who left the game as a result of his injury.
