All-star DT Almondo Sewell inks extension with Esks through 2020

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have extended international defensive lineman Almondo Sewell through the 2020 season, the club announced Friday.

“We couldn’t be more excited about having Almondo Sewell with us for another two years,” said Edmonton Eskimos VP of Football Operations and General Manager Brock Sunderland. “He’s a great player and an even better person who embodies every good trait we want in our organization, both on and off the field.”

In 15 games this season, Sewell has recorded 32 tackles, six quarterback sacks and one reception for 16 yards.

A member of the 2015 Grey Cup championship team, Sewell originally signed with Edmonton in 2011 and has played his entire career as a member of the Green and Gold.

Sewell has been named a West Division and CFL All-Star for the past five seasons, and has appeared in 118 games and has recorded 242 tackles, 51 quarterback sacks and one forced fumble.
