Ward passes Vinatieri; breaks pro football record with 45th straight FG

OTTAWA — Move over Adam Vinatieri, because pro football has a new all-time place kicking king.

Lewis Ward made his 45th consecutive field goal attempt on Friday night, passing the NFL legend for professional football’s all-time record.

Ward’s 52-yarder came in the first quarter of Friday night’s game at TD Place, cutting the REDBLACKS’ deficit to 7-6 vs. the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

On the season Ward is 46 for 47, connecting on 97.9 per cent of his kicks, also putting him on pace for a CFL record.

The Ticats and REBDLACKS are in the midst of a home-and-home that will help determine first place in the CFL East and the right to host the Eastern Final.
