HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Sunday the football club has signed international offensive lineman Ryker Mathews.

The 26-year-old was released this off-season before he was set to become a free agent to pursue NFL opportunities.

Mathews started 17 regular season games and two playoff games for the Tiger-Cats at right tackle in 2018. The six-foot-six, 320-pound native of American Fork, Utah originally signed with Hamilton July 25, 2017 and has played 26 regular season games over two seasons (2017-18) with the club.

The Brigham Young University product spent time with the National Football League’s New England Patriots from January to May earlier this year. In addition, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints and attended training camp with the team in 2016.
