TORONTO — Week 6 was difficult for some of the most expensive options in TSN CFL Fantasy, as Eric Rogers, C.J. Gable, Greg Ellingson and Trevor Harris all came in well below expectations.

Fans may be souring on some of the game’s top salaries, as Rogers and Ellingson are appearing on fewer rosters than usual along with other usual suspects like Derel Walker and Reggie Begelton.

While Hannah Nordman is expecting the Riders to continue their success, Jeff Krever is leaning on Argos receiver Derel Walker, who’s been more involved in the Toronto passing game lately.

“More green for me, Kyran Moore’s my lock this week,” said Nordman. “He gets catches even in the weeks where Cody Fajardo struggles. In a week that I think is going to be high-scoring, Moore had a great week last week and I think he’s going to be even better this week. Kyran Moore is my lock.”

“My lock of the week, and he will be in my lineup 100 per cent, Argos receiver Derel Walker,” said Krever. “Elite separation and the Argos are trying to find ways to get him the football. That’s the biggest thing here. Targets, targets, targets. In Edmonton he averaged double digit targets. Inching closer to that point with the Argos. If they’re going to win a game, you can bet Derel Walker is going to play a really, really big role.”

CFL Fantasy Podcast, Ep. 35: Have the Riders found ‘the next one’?

Do the Riders finally have an answer to their quarterback conundrum? Plus, what can we expect from the Ticats/Bombers heavyweight tilt? More in the CFL Fantasy Podcast from Pat Steinberg, Jeff Krever and Hannah Nordman.

The podcast trio is also looking to provide some cheaper options that could provide salary relief. Caleb Holley, Kenny Lawler and Cory Watson are this week’s picks, all coming in under $3,500.

“I think there’s a good chance of a bounce back for Caleb Holley in Ottawa,” said Steinberg. “Only saw one touch in the game against Winnipeg, but before that had some pretty solid totals. If you’re looking for a guy that can flirt with double digits and who’s going to be under $3,500, I still think Holley’s one of those guys.”

In Winnipeg, Lawler has made the most of his chances with the absence of Chris Matthews. He’s in line to start once again in Week 7 after a breakout performance vs. Ottawa.

“It’s starting to look like an embarrassment of riches in that Bombers receiving corps and the best part about it is you don’t know who it’s going to be every week,” said Krever. “At $2,500 if it’s Lawler, that’s a really high-upside gamble that could help your Fantasy team hit that ceiling.”

For Nordman, a high-scoring game could see plenty of targets fall into Watson’s lap. The Canadian had four catches in last week’s win over BC.

“I’ve got a lot of green in my lineup,” said Nordman. “My money pick is out of Saskatchewan, Cory Watson had a season-high four catches last week, that number keeps trending up and I love the rematch potential.”
