Esks release Danny Vandervoort from practice roster

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have released Canadian receiver Danny Vandervoort from the team’s practice roster.

Vandervoort, 25, was selected third overall by the BC Lions in the 2017 CFL Draft. During his final season at McMaster in 2016, the 6-foot-2, 204 lb receiver hauled 51 balls for 831 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games.

During his career with the Lions, Vandervoort only managed to reel in a single catch for 25 yards in 26 games. He was released by the team back in April.

The Eskimos are currently on a bye week. They’ll return to action on Oct. 26. when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium.
