HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats look to be getting one of their most important pass-catchers back into the lineup ahead of the team’s clash with the Montreal Alouettes.
Luke Tasker should be a full go for Saturday’s game, Ticats head coach Orlondo Steinauer said to Ticats.ca.
“He’s looking good. He’s feeling good, both mentally and physically so we’re excited to get him back out there,” Steinauer said after practice on Thursday.
Tasker has been out of action since the team’s Week 10 game against the Ottawa REDBLACKS. He’s dealt with some injury troubles this season but has posted 292 yards on 26 receptions across seven games in 2019.
He’ll have the chance to rejoin the Ticats, who have already captured the East Division crown and are currently the CFL’s top team. The 28-year-old had the chance to play alongside Dane Evans earlier in the year, and that should make it easier for him to integrate back into the gameplan.
“Luke is one of a kind,” Evans said. “He’s one of the best receivers in the league for a reason. I know he’s just itching to get out there and he brings the physical aspects of the game but is also like having another quarterback in the huddle.”
Tasker has spent his entire seven-year CFL career with the Tabbies. Across 86 career games, he accumulated 5,620 yards and 35 touchdowns on 445 catches. He’s also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark on three different occasions.
For the veteran receiver, this game will be a chance to get back to full speed before the playoffs get going.
“I just want to be a part,” Tasker said of his role in the offence. “I’m riding on the tailcoats of such a great team. I want to be a contributor.”
