MONTREAL — It appears Toronto Argonauts assistants Corey Chamblin and Tommy Condell could be part of the Montreal Alouettes’ coaching plans.
According to TSN 690‘s Rick Moffat, the Als have been granted permission by the Argos to speak to Chamblin, the defensive coordinator, and Condell, the receivers coach, as their search for a head coach officially kicks off.
The Alouettes announced their intention to hire a new head coach as soon as Jacques Chapdelaine was dismissed mid-season. General Manager Kavis Reed took over the role on an interim basis for the remainder of the 2017 season.

Chamblin, 40, is considered one of the league’s top coaching prospects. The former CFL defensive back was the youngest head coach to win a Grey Cup in 2013, when, at 36, he led Saskatchewan to an iconic victory on home turf over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
He was dismissed part way through the 2015 season and didn’t coach in 2016 before joining the Argos a year later. Under Chamblin’s watch in 2017, the Argo defence ranked first in the CFL in sacks (50) and rushing yards per game (82.8) with a second-place finish in total yards (329.1 per game).
Condell came to the Argos in 2017 after three years as the offensive coordinator for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He helped lead the Ticats to back-to-back Grey Cup appearances in 2013-2014 before helping the Argos capture the 105th Grey Cup on Nov. 26.
The window permitting teams to speak to prospective coaching candidates opened on Friday, Dec. 1. Teams must be granted permission before reaching out to candidates.
