Lions bring back QB Lloyd, two others for 2019

VANCOUVER — The BC Lions announced Tuesday that international players Ricky Lloyd (QB), Lee Bennett (LB) and Ebenezer Ogundeko (DL) have each signed contracts for the 2019 season.

All three newcomers finished this past season on the club’s practice roster but dressed for at least one game in 2018 with Lloyd, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound pivot, making a pair of appearances as the team’s third quarterback.

“The process of assembling a team for next year has been underway for a number of weeks and we’re pleased to have these young men under contract,” said General Manager Ed Hervey. “Ricky was impressive from the first time he stepped on the field back in April at our mini-camp in Surrey and has demonstrated that he has all the tools to compete for a bigger role next season while Lee and Ebenezer proved to be valuable mid-season additions to our practice roster.”

Ogundeko (6’3”, 255) made his CFL debut in September versus the Ottawa RedBlacks and enjoyed notable beginning to his Lions career by recovering a blocked punt. Bennett (6’0”, 225) saw his first pro action in October during the Leos’ playoff-clinching win over Edmonton.
