Ticats sign DB Jacob Dearborn and WR Chris Coleman

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed National defensive back Jacob Dearborn and American receiver Chris Coleman, the team announced on Tuesday.

Dearborn, 29, has suited up in 10 games over two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, registering 24 total tackles, including 18 defensive tackles and two interceptions. The six-foot-three, 200-pound native of Yarker, Ontario originally signed with the Riders in 2019 as an undrafted free agent after spending three seasons at Carleton University (2016-2019). In addition to his football talent, Dearborn also represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympic games, finishing 23rd in the four-man bobsleigh.

Coleman, 24, previously signed with the Tiger-Cats in September and spent time with the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins (2023) after originally signing with the club as an undrafted free agent. The five-foot-11, 192-pound native of Bakersfield, California played 11 games over two seasons (2021-2022) at Cal Poly University, recording 48 receptions for 702 yards and five touchdowns. Coleman began his collegiate career at Fresno State University, where he played both defensive back and receiver, suiting up in 24 games over four seasons (2018-2020), recording 16 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown.

The Ticats also announced they have released American wide receiver Anthony Johnson.

Hamilton now plays back-to-back games against the Montreal Alouettes. The first one on Saturday, October 28, for the final game of the regular season and the following on November 4 for the Eastern Semi-Final at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Montreal.
