Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

TORONTO — The final week of the CFL’s 2016 season is in the books as eight teams now look ahead to the 104th Grey Cup Playoffs.

The Calgary Stampeders top the final Nissan Titan Power Rankings of the season – the club’s 15th week in a row in the top spot. The Stamps ended 2016 with the league’s best record at 15-2-1 as they now look ahead to hosting the West Final and this week will await the winner of the Western Semi-Final.

All other teams remain in the same position after their Week 20 performances.

Calgary had a week of rest in Week 20 and will have one more as they wait to host the winner of the Western Semi-Final in the West Final next week. Bo Levi Mitchell and co. will be looking to cap their stellar 2016 season off with a win at home to advance to the 104th Grey Cup Championship.

Led by Emmanuel Arcneneaux, the BC Lions defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week to secure a home playoff date. ‘The Manny Show’ collected 180 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, while also reaching 100 catches on the season. Quarterback Jonathon Jennings will look to Arceneaux, and the rest of his dangerous receiving corps, when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Western Semi-Final at BC Place this week.

The Eskimos secured the crossover spot and will face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Eastern Semi-Final. Edmonton will look to use the league’s leading receivers in Adarius Bowman and Derel Walker to expose the Ticats’ secondary that, like the rest of the team, has dealt with injuries this season. The Esks will also be looking to carry the momentum from winning five of their last six contest to Tim Hortons Field this week.

Since starting their season 1-4, the Blue Bombers have completely turned things around and now find themselves about to battle the BC Lions in the Western Semi-Final. Facing the Lions’ electrifying offence, Winnipeg will rely heavily on their defence – a defence that leads the league in interceptions by a large margin – to shut down Jennings and co. this week at BC Place.

The REDBLACKS rested many of their starters last week – including both Henry Burris and Trevor Harris – as Brock Jensen started under centre for Ottawa. This week all three quarterbacks, and the rest of the team, will get to rest for one more week as the REDBLACKS advanced to the East Final and await the winner of the Eastern Semi-Final between the Ticats and Eskimos.

With their ticket to the Eastern Semi-Final already punched, the Tiger-Cats rested many of their starters in their contest against the Alouettes last week. Two Ticats – Brian Tyms and Anthony Woodson – scored their first career touchdowns in the loss while Jeff Mathews took care of the offence after Kent Austin decided to rest Zach Collaros, who played just a single quarter. The Ticats, who are still nursing injuries on both sides of the ball, now host the Eskimos in the winner-takes-all matchup.

Vernon Adams Jr. threw three touchdown passes en route to the Alouettes’ third win in a row to end the 2016 regular season. The rookie also connected on 16-of-28 passes for 257 yards – perhaps giving the fans in Montreal a glimpse of the Alouettes’ future at quarterback. The Als ended the regular season with a 7-11 record – the same record as the playoff-bound Tiger-Cats.
